Escena Project: Guest Rooms & Outdoor Spaces

We are pleased to continue the Big Reveal of our Escena Golf Club project with this tour of the sumptuous guest bedrooms and the gorgeous outdoor areas.

Our clients bought this new residence in the pre-construction phase. Our team helped select all the tiles, cabinets, and other finishes. The house itself is about 2600 square feet with three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.

Above: The property overlooks the community's golf course and boasts incredible views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

Guest Bedroom 1

We opted for a soothing and neutral color palette in this room, to keep things restful. We added a luxurious texture to the wall with a linen wallcovering from our friends at Phillip Jeffries. The feeling of rich textures is continued with an oversized wall-mounted headboard that adds a layer of softness, while the leaf-patterned fabric adds a fun pop of pattern. The lumbar pillow is woven leather and the Italian bedding is our favorite from Signoria Firenze, available through our Studio + Boutique.

A custom headboard extends behind the nightstands for a boutique-hotel look.

Whenever possible, we love to add wall-to-wall draperies for the luxurious softness that they provide. Hotels nearly always have blackout drapes, and we want our clients' guests to feel as if they are staying in a fabulous resort hotel.

Guest Bedroom 2

The two guest rooms are about equal in size. Our clients requested that they be equally well-appointed, but slightly different in look and feel. Guest room two has a brighter color palette. Again, we added an accent wall of wallcovering to the headboard wall. The wallcovering is from Thibaut and is made from banana stem fiber, which adds a wonderful exotic textural element to the room.

The Tiffany lamps, a family heirloom, are one of the few items that our clients brought from their LA residence. We picked up on their Art Deco pattern with the custom lumbar pillow made in a Jim Thompson fabric.

A carefully-chosen fabric bed perfectly squeezes in between the windows on the headboard wall. The nightstands offer guests extra storage, but the "leggy" design keeps the feeling light and airy. The drawer handles are wrapped in leather for extra interest and texture.

The Outdoor Spaces

Life in Palm Springs is all about outdoor living most of the year. Our clients, whose other residence is in Los Angeles, will be spending much more time in the desert upon retirement. As with all of our projects, we crafted the outdoor spaces with as much attention to detail as we give to the interior design.

When we first begin the design process for a client, we like to ask them about their favorite hotel or resort. Then, we strive to create the feeling of a beautifully-designed resort...that they have the good fortune to call their own and never have to leave!

Above: The counter-height dining chairs are from Essentials for Living and available through the Christopher Kennedy Studio + Boutique. The custom counter-height outdoor table is from Room & Board.

We opted for a counter-height outdoor dining table, because doesn't everyone like to be a little elevated? The swivel club chairs from our Studio + Boutique are available here.

Above: Could you ask for a more glorious view? No doubt, our clients pinch themselves when they wake up to this every day.

I hope you enjoyed this tour!
