After creating five Christopher Kennedy Compound showhouses in Palm Springs for Modernism Week, in 2019 I was lured to Turlock, California by a homeowner looking to create an exciting interiors experience in a classic American town. ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME served as our national media sponsor and published the project and published the project on the pages of its beautiful magazine.
For the design of the family room, I turned to my friend -- and Christopher Kennedy Compound alum -- Natasha Minasian. Natasha's favorite color, as you will see, is black -- and she used it to great effect. In an otherwise bright house, Natasha created a soothing and cozy TV room hangout for the family to enjoy.
Wallpaper by Thibaut wraps the space. We often keep media rooms dark in our designs, at is much easier on the eyes to watch television against a dark background.
Rather than stare at a blank black screen on the wall, lately we have been loving the Frame TV by Samsung! It looks just like a piece of art and you can upload any image you like! For bedrooms and living rooms, it is a great design-friendly alternative.
