SMOKEY BLACKBERRY BOURBON PUNCH

Here is a fun little recipe to make at home this Halloween.

Thanks to Jacquelyn Clark we have this great recipe for a SMOKEY BLACKBERRY BOURBON PUNCH.

The fresh, bright flavor of the blackberries complement the bourbon very well. The deep, dark purple color of the drink seems a perfect fit to celebrate Halloween. I hope you enjoy!

How to make the SMOKEY BLACKBERRY BOURBON PUNCH

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

1 cup fresh blackberries

16 oz pomegranate juice

8 oz bourbon

3/4 cup sugar

1 1/4 cup water

Fresh rosemary

Ice

TO MAKE THE BLACKBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP

Mix sugar, water, and blackberries in a saucepan. Heat over medium high heat for about 10 minutes, reducing heat if the mixture starts to boil.

Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or jar. You can store any extra simple syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

TO MAKE THE COCKTAILS

Fill a cocktail shaker with the pomegranate juice, bourbon, and 8oz of the blackberry simple syrup. Shake the mixture with the lid on.

Fill four cocktail glasses with ice and divide cocktail evenly among each glass.

Garnish each glass with a sprig of rosemary.

For a spooky effect, just before serving, light the rosemary until they are smoking.
