For some of us, it never left. Few other metals allow for the detail, warmth, and patina the way brass does. I'm not a purist when it comes to metals - mix and match throughout your home.
While I am not afraid to mix, it is not as easy as it may seem. Too much mix can look chaotic or indecisive.
My general design methodology is to keep the door and plumbing hardware consistent throughout the home. That said, don't be afraid to get adventurous when it comes to lighting and accessories!
At our Morningside Country Club project pictured above, we selected brushed nickel hardware and appliances for the sleek modern kitchen, but I wasn't afraid to mix in Quaker-era pendant lights over the island. These lights were family heirlooms, formerly relegated to a storage unit. But if you ask me, they infuse the space with extra flair. Bring out those family treasures, my friends!
