A Balanced Approach to Master Baths

Nothing soothes the mind like a peaceful retreat to the master suite. I included elements of nature into this design to cater to the homeowner’s appreciation for growth and harmony. Take note of the large leafy plants which improve air quality and the use of stone to anchor the space. The custom trough sink, made of polished concrete, weighs more than 2,000 pounds, so we had to reinforce the walls with steel to hold the weight.
Color experts have long praised green for its restorative powers and that’s exactly what a master bath should be. It should offer a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the day. It’s no secret that I love color. So, I made a point to place colorful paintings strategically. The wall mirror is performing as well. It’s mere presence adds to the perception of this moderately sized bath and multiplies natural energy by spreading the light. Notice the use of recessed lighting on dimmers. Imagine a hot bath, soothing music and a remote dimmer…sweet!
But, clearly, the stand out in this bath is the floating sink. Again, drawing the mind back to a place of balance. I loved this project because the bath incorporates enough detail to draw the eye, and plenty of clean lines to keep the calm in this retreat.
