It's no secret that nothing is off-limits to dogs in my household. If it isn't livable, it's luxury -- as far as I'm concerned. I believe that our surroundings can (must!) be simultaneously beautiful, inspiring, pet-friendly, child-friendly, and people-friendly.

As such, Harley is welcome on any and all furnishings in my home, and sleeps right between The Mr. and I in our cozy bed. When we first rescued him, his arranged his little 20-pound body horizontally in our wide king-sized bed, with one paw on each of us...as if to make sure that we were there and wouldn't leave him.

Don't worry, Harley, we'll never leave you. In fact, I have debuted a new line of organic cotton sheets to keep you extra comfy at night.

When Harley wakes, he...

Over the years, I’ve watched Zuo Modern grow from a company that concentrated mainly on affordable replicas of the classics – to a trend setter in contemporary style. Pieces from their new Era Collection look just as at home in a modern farm house as they do in an urban loft. In fact, I’ve selected a few pieces from the new Era Collection for a home on a vineyard in Washington state. I’m also a big fan of Zuo’s 2013 Lighting Collection - a series of bright ideas that range from formal to fun.

The Gilease ceiling lamp is a modern take on a chandelier – and I love it! Its functional and fabulous. The Gilease is like a piece of pop art that pushes the boundaries when it comes to style.

My followers know I...

Some very good clients, who are also good friends, recently asked me to plan their destination wedding in Palm Springs. I quickly, and politely, declined.

Readers, you may recall that I created an Indian Canyons wedding for some dear clients a couple of years ago. It was a beautiful affair, which went off without a hitch, but I simply could not be responsible for another client’s big day. It’s just not what I do best.

I did, however, agree to design the wedding. My design associate, Keith Fortner, will be creating the flowers. (Keith was a florist in Manhattan for many years and brings his talents to many of our events). We called in the fabulous Tamara Bolton of Sensorium Event Productions to orchestrate the rest.

The weddin...

Last week I headed to my West Hollywood pied-a-terre for a few days in the big city. It was the fabulous Legends of La Cienega event in Los Angeles, where top designers, magazine editors and other tastemakers gather on fabled La Cienega Boulevard for three days of networking and inspiration. Legends of La Cienega includes keynote panel discussions, cocktail parties, book signings, receptions and exhibitions.

First up, I stopped by the Bloggers’ Breakfast, hosted by Luxe Interiors + Design at the beautiful brand-new Sherle Wagner showroom. Since its founding in 1945, Sherle Wagner has been the premier source for luxury hardware and bath accessories.

Lamps Plus asked, “If you could be a piece of furniture or object, what would it be?” A table lamp, I replied. I chose a table lamp (vintage) preferably, because they are essential to any living space.

Thanks to the internet, we have fairly easy access to vintage lamps on websites like 1stDibs, eBay, and Craigslist. Buying vintage is the ultimate way to recycle, but if that is not your thing, you can find a variety of “vintage-inspired” lamps to add nostalgia and history to your home.

If crushing on your friend is an offense, call me guilty. My design crush on Celerie Kemble is growing all the time. Not only is she beautiful inside and out, her remarkable talent is surpassed only by her genuine kindness. Readers, you may remember that Celerie recently brought her extraordinary good taste to the master bedroom at The Christopher Kennedy Compound – but you will have to wait for the July issue of Luxe Interiors + Design for that full story.

Once in a while, I dream of a world where Celerie’s Palm Beach glamour and my Palm Springs modernism coexist perfectly in a chic New York townhouse. We would arrange tablescapes and design products all day. Since we have the same initials, we wouldn’t even need to ...

We often draw the line between home decor and fashion, but the two are intricately infused and inspired by each other. Just ask the brilliant minds of the Pantone Color Institute; who work tirelessly throughout the seasons to bring us color forecasts, which penetrate every product line.

Most of us wake up wondering where the night went — unable to pause time we yawn and wander blindly into the master bath to awaken and refresh. This my friends, is why I work so hard to create the functional modern baths of my clients’ dreams.

I had the pleasure of attending the spring High Point Market and let me tell you, it was fantastic! For 5 glorious days, I was surrounded by imaginative creations of forward-thinking designers from around the world. Just try to wrap your mind around 100+ countries represented in 11.5 million sq. ft of show space! In true Christopher fashion, I took plenty of pictures, but I only want to highlight a few of my favorites from the largest furnishing trade show in the world.

First up, antique rugs from Eliko! Eliko has been an international wholesale dealer of antique rugs for 20+ years. I highly recommend that you take some time to explore their selection the next time you are in the market for a decorative floor covering.
